In-text advertising/inline advertising (for publishers) reviews
Description/Definition:
In-text advertising (also called inline advertising) is a kind of contextual advertising. Its characterristic is to show ad links from the page content text instead of using extra space for the ads. Only important words inside the page content text are used as links to show the ads. The in-text ad links appear diferently from the regular links, so users can differentiate them. The ads appear when the user positions the mouse cusor over the in-text ad links. The in-text ads have the form of a small pop-up with ad text and ad links inside. The pop-up shows content related to the words used as in-text ad links.
The advantages of in-text advertising are the following. Because the ads are shown when the mouse cursor is positionned over some parts of the content text, the website layout does not need to be modified to show ads. This saves web page space for other ad blocks or other elements.
In-text advertising is more suitable for web sites with a lot of text. For example, sites with a lot of articles fits well to show inline ads.
