The affiliate program model allows you to promote the products or services of a company. You are a reseller. You do not have to buy the products, but to only to refer the clients to the company. You make money when you refer a client and that client buys a product. The company gives commissions in form of percentage of fix amount. For example, you may earn 25% of every sale that you refer or just a fix amount of $20.

The affiliate program model has the advantage to save time by promoting a product directly. The products are ready to be sold. You do not need to develop a product. Also, the number and variety of products you can promote is very large. Many affiliate programs offer generous commissions around $100. Very often, you can influence the buy rate (and your sales too) of your visitors by offering good reviews of the products.

The disadvantage with affiliate programs is the non-regularity of the revenues. If your website has low traffic, the sales may occur from time to time. You can overcome this by joining many affiliate programs and increasing your website traffic.

Sell you own products

You sell you own products. That means that you have developed a product and it is ready to sell.

The advantage of selling your own products is that you earn all the profits. Unlike the affiliate programs where you earn just a part of the product's price, selling your own product is the best way to earn more money on each sale. You can have your own affiliate program to allow others to promote your own products.

The disadvantage is that you need to spend a considerable amount of time developing your own products and you are more limited in the number of products you can sell.
